Field Application Specialist Europe (UK, Germany, or France)

This role can be based in UK, Germany, or France. This position is remote, but will require travel up to 50% in the field.

Summary:

Covaris is seeking a people-oriented Pre-/Post-Sales Field Applications Scientist (FAS) to provide technical expertise and education for our workflow solutions.

The individual will also assist in managing Covaris technical resources and scientific collaborations, including protocols, application notes, and other publications.

This position is a member of the Applications group. It will also require working closely with Covaris Sales, Marketing and R&D department, and directly with customers.

This position it is ideal for a self-motivated individual with broad scientific knowledge and the drive to create a top-quality support processes and culture.

The role is field based covering Europe, primarily supporting UK, Benelux, German and French markets.

Essential Responsibilities: The employee may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity.

  • Present scientific/technical presentations on behalf of Covaris at conferences or exhibitions
  • Partner with sales and serve as the scientific/technical expert to help drive sales and provide support for new and existing customers.
  • Organize and execute demonstrations of Covaris applications and products; manage these projects independently to ensure all demonstration equipment is fully functional and optimized.
  • Respond to customer applications questions via telephone or email, following the Application Support process and ensure customer support needs are achieved in a timely manner and appropriately documented.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating a library of publications pertaining to the use of the Company’s technology.
  • Assist in the assessment of new applications for the Company’s AFA technology; provide technical expertise and insight for customer needs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or similarly relevant field. Alternatively, a BSc with at least 3 years lab experience in relevant area
  • In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, direct lab experience with Genomic sequencing and /or Protein analysis
  • Expertise in technical writing, fully fluent in English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident presenter
  • Critical thinking skills, highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and timelines
  • Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of working time in the field
  • Ability to work closely with Sales team (pre and post sales, demo), Marketing team (creation document scientist) , and Application support based in US (knowledge sharing)
  • Ability to speak another European language (German, French) is an advantage
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
