Covaris designs, manufactures, and markets hardware, consumable and reagent products which have sustainable competitive advantages in genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics. In addition, the AFA technology enables very high-throughput, pre-analytical processes for multiple applications using our instrument, consumable, and reagent systems.
We are currently searching for a full time, experienced Director, Information Technology at our corporate headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA. The Director, Information Technology reports to Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for overseeing the technical infrastructure and enterprise applications as the company continues to grow. Candidate must be a hands-on professional who enjoys working with the team to lead the technical efforts, manage projects from initial concept to implementation and support, and eliminate security risks. The successful candidate will be a change management expert and knowledgeable with CRM, ERP, and Quality Systems as well as O365, and Azure cloud environment.
Essential Responsibilities: The employee may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity.
- Oversee the entire corporate IT operations, including management/administration of the servers, network, Helpdesk operations, desktop support, enterprise applications including ERP, CRM, scientific, engineering, and R&D workloads
- Optimize and establish internal IT functions for the company including rollout of cyber security programs, strategic IT roadmaps, business systems, financial controls, and IT vendor relationships
- Create a robust IT training program for all internal systems, processes, and procedures for staffs
- Manage and motivate the IT team for technical improvement within the department
- Drive the continuous improvement of corporate IT infrastructure and enterprise application systems that can support current business requirements, growth, and technology trends
- Communicate clearly with all in-house departments and vendors; establish and enforce email, network, and security policies
- Manage and lead IT enhancement projects from initial concept to implementation and support, as well as work within a team environment
- Assess and identify cyber security vulnerabilities and risks and develop and implement strong and effective programs to enhance cyber security posture.
- Establish, communicate, and implement corporate and departmental IT policies and procedure
- Ensure complete inventory of all Covaris’-owned hardware and software is established, maintained, and perform routine scheduled and regular maintenance of equipment and software
- Establish goals for IT operations, evaluate actual performance against those goals, and monitor the effectiveness of the Covaris IT support accordingly
- Build and maintain relationship with outside vendors
- Manage IT department budget and prepare an annual budget request in collaboration with finance department

Qualifications:
- B.S. or an advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of information technology experience required, biotech or pharma experience strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience with cybersecurity, IT roadmapping, financial controls, IT policies, and IT business systems required.
- Experience with hands on IT administration and support for staff required.
- Audit readiness experience for an IT standpoint highly preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to effectively collaborate and operate independently.
- Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and maintaining compliance.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Extremely detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Experience providing IT solutions for Biotech or manufacturing industry preferred.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness to work with all departments to achieve business goals
