Enabled by Covaris’ AFA Technology, truXTRAC FFPE Total NA Auto 96 Kit allows for easy extraction of analytes from FFPE samples in a highly robust, reliable, reproducible manner. Capitalizing on this unique technology, this kit can automate concurrent DNA and RNA extraction from up to 96 FFPE samples at once in an aqueous buffer. The robust and refined assay chemistry and method ensures sample integrity so that users benefit from increased nucleic acid yield and quality versus traditional FFPE extraction methods. It also allows for judicial consumption of precious sample to preserve future studies. Users can also process samples in a hands-free, high-throughput manner to gain efficiency while reducing variability related to manual processing.

AFA Technology and FFPE Advances in clinical molecular pathology continue to grow fueling a stronger requirement for reliable FFPE extraction methods. DNA and RNA extraction from FFPE samples can be challenging and labor-intensive, often resulting in degraded and fragmented nucleic acids. Considering the value of the sample, differentially co-extracting high-yield and high-quality DNA and RNA provides a tremendous advantage. AFA enables the active removal of paraffin from FFPE tissue samples in an aqueous buffer, allowing simultaneous tissue rehydration. Compared to traditional passive, chemical-based methods of paraffin removal, this mechanical process is not as limited by the thickness of FFPE tissue sections.
